Hipster Queens

I went to London and all you get are these grainy selfies...

On Saturday, me, Alice and Ellie thought we'd journey into London for a vintage clothes fair. We figured the £1 event would offset the cost of the train fare and thought it would be a good excuse for a day of shopping in London!

From the 6am wake up and 7.40 train to our lunch in Brick Lane, everything went seamlessly! Somehow we got there at the perfect time (around an hour before it opened), ended up pretty near the front of the queue, each got a whole bunch of clothes that we wanted, navigated London and found a cute cafe, had a great lunch and then caught the train home! I literally couldn't believe how smoothly it went!

Despite the slightly warmer weather, I wanted to find some good oversized jumpers and I managed to find two that I absolutely loved in not too garish neutral tones and one golf jumper to wear for a pub golf social with my sailing society.

Apparently I only know one angle.

At the very end of our shopping expedition, I went for one final search through the racks and found this really crumpled, seemingly massive dress in a cute print and figured that for a pound I might as well take it and then alter it. But when I tried it on, I fell in love with it! I've never been sure on maxi or midi dress as someone once told me how unattractive it made me look, but I feel amazing in it. It's something a bit different, the perfect spring/summer dress!

I also got a winter coat in a gorgeous green and a polka dot shirt. All in all, a good haul! The clothes cost me just £12, but I really must factor in £25.30 for the train fare to London and a travelcard. I really worried that the day would flop, that the stock would be disappointing, that we'd have to queue for ages, that we'd miss a train and be stuck in rainy ol' London forever, but it didn't. It was such a good day! It felt productive and purposeful and fun. It was definitely worth the early morning trek!

One thing this blog post has done is remind me how different this blog is to my last one. I would never have been happy with grainy iphone photos before!

I'm not really sure what direction I want to take my blog in at the moment. It is currently a jumble of thoughts, experiences and life, and when I go to Lehigh it will obviously center around my year abroad. But what about now? I want it to be a space I can enjoy and use and be proud of. So I might try and do an outfit post for all of my two (if that) readers with proper photos, just like I used to. Just to see if that is what I want this space to be.
